What are the dates for Howl-O-Scream 2024?

Specific dates are:

  • September 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28,
  • October 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27, 30, 31, and
  • November 1, 2

What’s Howl-O-Scream?

Considered the #1 best Theme Park Halloween Event in 2023, according to USA Today’s 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards, Howl-O-Scream is the premiere adult-focused fright fest.

While children are allowed into the event they are not encouraged to attend as there are elements of violent, blood, and gore at every turn alongside risqué (a.k.a. sexually suggestive) elements, too.

The park is transformed into a spooky landscape filled with haunted houses, scare zones, and live shows. Rides and attractions will be open during the event

Do I need a separate ticket for Howl-O-Scream?

Yes, a separate ticket is needed for the party from regular day admission.

There are different kinds of tickets available depending on your needs and some are available both at the gate, online, or on the app. Tickets range in price depending on the kind you buy and the date you buy it on (want to know the cheapest days to buy?) and if you’re a passholder there are huge savings to sweeten the deal.

Note: At the time of publication there is a 70% sale going on (the below prices do not include tax). I will update once that sale is over.

Prices have been variable since I last published this, so just know that these ticket prices were when they were at their lowest sale prices.

  • Single Night Ticket: Ranging from $39.99 to $57.99
  • Single Night Ticket for Groups 15+: Ranging from $29.99 to $52.99
  • Any Night Ticket: $54.99 each • with blockout dates: $44.99 each
  • Night & Day Ticket (online): Ranging from $102.99 to $139.98
  • Two Park Ticket: $94.99 each
  • Unlimited Ticket: $109.99 each • with blockout dates: $99.99 each
  • Two Park Unlimited: $159.00 each

What time does Howl-O-Scream begin?

The event starts at 7:00 PM.

Guests with a ticket are allowed into the park at 6:15 PM, although if you are an annual passholder or were in the park as a day guest you can stay in the park regardless.

There will be a section cordoned off for day guests at the Waterfront until they’re open to guests for the event.

Can I wear a costume to HoS?

For the safety of the actors and other people at the event, costumes are not allowed inside of the event.

Cheapest Days to Attend Howl-O-Scream 2024

Basing off the single-night tickets, no month generally has the best ticket prices as far as I am able to tell. There are 7 distinct prices though and of them, these are the 3 cheapest dates in those price ranges.

$34.99 days – October 30 and 31

$39.99 days – September 6, October 6, 17, 24, and November 1st

$41.99 days – September 13, 20, 27, and October 13

If you’re planning on attending, I suggest buying tickets in advance and online as at the gate they are more expensive. Undercover Tourist sells Howl-O-Scream tickets at a discount (and it supports the website to bring more content like this).

If you’re looking to attend more than one night though, you can look into the unlimited visits ticket or the two park unlimited visits ticket that gives access to both SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay locations.

As a reminder, those prices are:

  • Unlimited Ticket: $109.99 each • with blockout dates: $99.99 each
  • Two Park Unlimited: $159.00 each

But, you can also upgrade with skip the line passes, too:

  • Front Line Fear allows you to skip the line once at each of the five haunted houses. Prices range from $59.00 to $129.00.
  • Front Line Fear Extreme not only gives front of line access to the haunted houses and the major thrill rides, but also gives reserved seating to the live show, Monster Stomp. Prices range from $79.00 to $149.00.

What to Expect at Howl-O-Scream 2024

Well you weren’t only expecting food, right? Of course not. You’ll find select attractions open, haunted houses, scare zones, live shows, and interactive themed bars throughout SeaWorld Orlando sure to make your time at Howl-O-Scream a screaming success.

SeaWorld upped the ante with new additions across the board in most every category, which I think is exciting!

Haunted Houses

This year there are a total of 5 houses, 4 of which will be new this year.

The 4 announced houses are:

  • Farm 51 – New! → “You stumble on an abandoned farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. The air is thick with dread, and the silence is broken only by the eerie rustling of the cornfields. Suddenly, you realize you’re not alone. The chilling whispers of extraterrestrial visitors echo in the darkness. They’ve crash-landed, and they’re not friendly.”
  • D3LER1UM666 → “You’re invited inside the headquarters of a unique mercenary group, established by the government to counter the threat posed by the Sirens and other dangerous sea creatures.”
  • Ultimate Gamble – New! → “Will you beat the odds and escape with your life, or will you become just another ghostly patron trapped in the casino’s eternal game? Face your fears and place your bets at “The Ultimate Gamble,” where the house always wins.”
  • Waters Edge Wellness Center – New!→ “Prepare yourself for an unforgettable journey into the macabre, where the line between the living and the dead is blurred, and the horrors of the past come to life. Will you escape unscathed, or will you become another lost soul within the haunted halls of the Waters Edge Wellness Center?”
  • Atlantis Journey Below – New! → “As you encounter the sunken city of Atlantis, you’ll find a realm shrouded in mystery and dark legends. Descend into the eerie underwater world where the air grows thick with anticipation and the haunting whispers of sinister sea creatures.”

Scare Zones

With 7 scare zones, 3 of them are new in 2024. These zones will be at major intersections of the park so beware if you’re scared and skittish.

There have been 6 announced scare zones, they are:

  • Seeds of the Coven – New! → “Enter if you dare … where the line between nature and nightmare blurs into a sinister reality. A place where the natural world has turned against humanity, twisted by the dark arts into a landscape of fear and peril.”
  • Paradise Palms – New! → “Check in, but you may never check out. […] At this seemingly abandoned motel, with its faded pastel paint and overgrown palms, you’ll uncover a chilling history beyond its weathered façade. Will you unravel the motel’s mysteries and escape its haunted grounds, or will this stay be your last?”
  • Blood Light District → “Those who walk the streets of this borough will tempt your deepest desires. You can fight their beckoning, but you will not win. Do not be fooled by their beauty and lust. Stay too long and you will be forever bound by blood.”
  • Toxic Turmoil → “A toxic catastrophe has caused this hidden chemical landfill to be overcome by mutated creatures, humans, and plant life. Your only chance is to make it to the exit at the other end of the yard. Be careful where you step, not everything is as it seems.”
  • Terrors of the Deep → “Out of the dark depths you will encounter a beautiful sunken village filled with remnants and treasures from the surface. These treasures have been claimed by a cursed Pirate crew that will give No Quarter to scallywags and landlubbers.”
  • CarnEvil Pier → “The freaks, sinister Barkers, and demented clowns that inhabit the Carn-Evil Pier welcome you to stay a while. Have a drink and a snack. You can even try your luck at the games… but beware, if you lose, your soul belongs to the pier.”
  • Cannibal Harbor – New! → “The inhabitants of Cannibal Harbor are no ordinary fishermen. Driven to madness by a sinister curse, these cannibalistic mariners now stalk the port in search of fresh prey.”

Themed Bars

There are 5 interactive themed bars, 2 of which are new.

This is one of the unique things I’ve seen between the Halloween theme park events I’ve covered, but I don’t know how they work exactly. Are they interactive in the way that it’s like people being in perpetual character like they are at Disney? Or… something else? Either way, I’m excited to find out.

The themed bars this year are:

  • Tormented → “Take refuge from the wintry terrors of the Arctic hellscape outside and do a little refueling here. If you’re feeling mischievous, you can even join in and frighten your fellow expeditioners while they’re braving the horrors beneath the ice.”
  • Longshoremen Tavern → “Take a break from the sirens and squalls and plant your weary hides here. The Longshoremen are dying to entertain you.”
  • CarnEvil Curiosities → “Step right up to a world of wonder and evil. Don’t be fooled by the unknowing wanderers who make their way to this specialty bar. The carnival magic is contagious, don’t let it infect you.”
  • Sacrificial Spirits – New! → “Each drink is a mystical brew of arcane ingredients and dark magic. Will you sip your drink and become a mere spectator, or will the coven choose you as their next offering?”
  • Space Gate 3 – New! → “Welcome to Space Gate 3, where a night could take a terrifying turn into the unknown, as the veil between worlds is perilously thin. Rumor has it that a strange anomaly in this very location has led to eerie encounters with extraterrestrial beings. Sip on cosmic concoctions and brace yourself for an otherworldly experience that’s as thrilling as it is chilling.”

Live Shows

The park hosts two haunting shows during the party. There are guaranteed seats for Monster Stomp with the Front Line Fear Extreme pass if you’re looking for that access.

Monster Stomp – Jack the Ripper roams the streets in Victorian-era London in this modern rhythmic retelling of his story.

Sirens Song – We’ve all heard the stories about mermaids luring sailors to their deaths. These sirens have come to SeaWorld Orland to feast on all of your greatest fears in this live show.

Howl-O-Scream Tour and Howl-O-Spring 5K Run

Sometimes you want to go a step further into the fray and brave the hoards with some help (or maybe run into it, your choice). There’s the VIP tour or the 5K run.

VIP Terror Tour

With a VIP guide, for a group of 2 or more, they will help you survive this night of terror.

You’ll have front of the line access to haunted houses and major thrill rides, access to a VIP only lounge with complimentary snacks, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks, and priority access to the interactive themed bars throughout the parks.

You’ll also have dinner at one of the available restaurants, preferred parking, and reserved seating at both of the live shows.

Prices range from $299.99 to $349.99 per group with a max of 10 people.

Howl-O-Spring 5K Run

For one night only – Friday, September 13, 2024 – this is the inaugural year of this 5K!

Sprint through a terror filled course through the supernatural. This is intended for a mature audience due to intense adult content (violence, gore, and blood).

This event begins at 11:50 PM with a post-race celebration until 2 AM.

You can find more information here. Total race capacity is 4,000 participants! (Hint: If you’re interested register now, now, now!)

Food Booths You’ll Expect to See at Howl-O-Scream

With the 2024 menus now dropped, the food options seem pretty interesting compared to the offerings of 2023. There are a couple of items that they took away from the 2023 menu that I’m confused on why they took away (like the ribs from the Jack the Ripper booth and the Ofrenda and Beef Birria Soup from Mercado de los Muertos), but we’ll see how this year fares.

I’ll be getting pricing for these items on the party date, so hold tight. 🙂

Howl-O-Scream Planning and Tips

I mentioned earlier that I have never attended Howl-O-Scream, so I asked some local friends for what they would recommend and I rounded them up right here for you.

1 – Arrive early and eat early (if that’s your thing – it’s certainly not mine, ha, I want to eat the food during the party cause it’s party-exclusive food!). Your ticket allows you entry at 6:15 PM, use that to your advantage.

2 – During the time that you’re eating early, grab a map because it’s about to be your best friend. Locate the houses you’re interested in hitting up and pick a general direction you’d like to go in so you’re not zig-zagging around the park as that wastes precious time!

3 – If you’re not afraid, or you like the thrill of being frightened, go through the scare zones multiple times and really immerse yourself in it.

4 – Saturdays will have more attendance than other weekday dates, but if you can’t help it, make a plan, arrive early, and be vigilant!

5 – If you’re a bit of a ‘fraidy cat, you can purchase a “No Boo” necklace for $15 that alerts the scare actors that you’d like them not to scare you. There’s no guarantee that you won’t get scared, but it helps considering that the actors may be working on adrenaline and not see the necklace in time.

Have a Spooky Halloween!

So, there you have it, a terrifyingly tasty guide to conquering Howl-O-Scream!

Remember, balance is key – alternate between screams and snacks for the ultimate Howl-O-Scream experience. Happy haunting (and eating)!
